Absolute highlight of our trip. The garden is stunning, even with parts of it undergoing construction/improvements. We’re definitely taking back inspiration for our home garden. The thermal pool was also very enjoyable. We saved it for last after walking around the garden for 45 minutes. On Feb. 6, 2024 the entrance and changing areas are undergoing improvements. The changing rooms are temporary but certainly passable. We came with our bathing suits on underneath our clothes. Right next to the pool are stands (look like umbrellas) to hang up your belongings. The garden is beautiful and magnificent. It’s not cheap but worth it. The pool is pop place and I would not recommend to go here just because of it. As part of our Viator tour, we stopped here. To enter the thermal bath, it was 10 euros each. The water colors your suit some, due to the iron. It is wonderful and makes you feel so good. We didnt stay at the hotel, only visited the park. It was "winter" when we went, but the park was still phenomenal to walk around. The worst customer service experience on Azores. Pro tip: do not go here when it's raining because they no lockers and you need to leave your stuff under a tree. No refunds, and they won't let you look at the pool area ahead of time. The park is fantastic, I have been here about 6-8 times since 2017. Unfortunately the current management seems bad. They had the grand idea to demolish the really cute old ticket office and several big plants and build a new metal & mirrored glass structure to accommodate a souvenir shop. They also started to replace the original gravel and ash walkways with concrete. Please visit the park anyways, but to those in charge: what the heck? It's a historic landmark, what next? Cut down half the park to make more parking? I feel the ever increasing entrance fee is giving management too much room for such questionable projects. Nice botanical garden with a huge thermal pool. The garden is quite big having full of unique flowers which adds up to a great nature walk experience. The change room and bathroom are often crowded and there is no locker facility so make sure to take care of your valuables. The entry fee is 10€ which can be bought on the spot.
